To spread the word about the orchestra and our mission, the Duke Medicine Orchestra has commissioned NY-based composer Michael Markowski to transcribe his beautiful work City Trees for us. Michael will join us for the premiere here in Durham and will be able to share his inspiration for the work. Local artist Clara K Johnson is designing three art works to go with the City Trees theme of our concert and will display her artwork in the lobby of Baldwin Auditorium…

The DMO will be hosting an educational interactive children’s concert in the spring of 2017, in collaboration with the Emily K Center in Durham, NC. The target audience of 150-300 or more participants includes families and Pioneer (elementary school) students served by the Emily K Center, students at Lakewood Elementary School in Durham, and families of DMO’s regular audience and musicians.
