Ceremonial live tree planting

In collaboration with the Durham Urban Forestry department, the Duke Medicine Orchestra has purchased several live trees to be planted near the entrance to Baldwin Auditorium. The tree planting ceremony is planned for 12:00pm (noon) on December 1, 2015. Enjoy the music of a DMO brass ensemble and the planting of live trees in honor of our December 9 concert and the premier of our first commissioned piece, an orchestral transcription of Michael Markowski's "City Trees."

To spread the word about the orchestra and our mission, the Duke Medicine Orchestra has commissioned NY-based composer Michael Markowski to transcribe his beautiful work City Trees for us. Michael will join us for the premiere here in Durham and will be able to share his inspiration for the work. Local artist Clara K Johnson is designing three art works to go with the City Trees theme of our concert and will display her artwork in the lobby of Baldwin Auditorium…
